SPJ UW is offering two $600 stipends to send students to the 2014 Excellence in Journalism conference, a joint national conference for the Society of Professional Journalists and Radio Television News Association, Sept. 4 through 6 in Nashville.
Students will strengthen journalism skills through a series of workshops, gain valuable feedback through portfolio critiques and network with professional journalists from across the country.
Please send a resume and cover letter explaining what the conference will do for your professional development, including which sessions you’d like to attend and what you hope to get out of them. You do not need to be a member of the chapter to apply. (Recent graduates can apply as well).
Students can expect to pay about $170 out of pocket for travel and lodging, plus the cost of food and incidentals.
The Comm. Department is generously supporting this opportunity for students by covering half of the stipends.
Send applications materials to email@example.com by 5 p.m. Friday, July 11.
Two students went to last year’s conference in Anaheim. Read about their experiences.
