SPJ UW and the western Washington pro chapter will bring journalism speakers and workshops to students around the state for the annual Washington Collegiate Journalism Conference, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the University of Washington’s communications building.
Keynote address will be given by Mike Fancher, retired executive editor of The Seattle Times. Other speakers include Tom Hallman Jr., senior reporter for The Oregonian and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing; George Erb, Puget Sound Business Journal editor; Monica Guzman, Seattle Times digital media columnist; Chris Daniels, KING-5 reporter; Lewis Kamb, Seattle Times reporter; Robert Frank, city editor of The Daily Herald (Everett); Diana Kramer, publisher/editorial adviser of the UW Daily; and a panel of recent graduates who landed full-time journalism jobs.
Cost is $15 for SPJ members; $20 for non-members. Parking on campus is $5. Register before Oct. 17 to receive free pizza and refreshments at lunch. Tickets will also be available at the door.
